I love to cook. One thing I’ve learned for my kitchen is a good pot will take your food to the next level. I was told by many when I got my new kitchen that cooking with Stainless Steel was that next level but the idea of cooking with non- stick scared me. So when the opportunity came to test out a piece of Calphalon’s new AccuCore line I jumped at the chance to see what the hype was all about.
Exceptionally even heating ensures optimum cooking performance. Calphalon AccuCore Stainless Steel cookware is made from 5 individual metal layers with a responsive copper core that heats – and cools – evenly to help maintain a more consistent temperature across the entire pan. Two inner layers of aluminum also efficiently conduct heat, while stainless steel outer layers create a beautiful, durable surface that is dishwasher safe. Stainless steel is an exceptionally versatile cooking surface, and is the best choice for high-temperature techniques such as searing and deglazing. The 5 Qt. Dutch Oven has a deep sides and a wide, flat bottom that provides a superb searing surface for browning and braising. It can also be used in the oven for finishing a recipe. The even-heating stainless steel surface is ideal for: Braised chicken or short ribs, Fricassees or pot roasts , Osso Buco
First things first, the AccuCore 5-qt. Stainless Steel Dutch Oven is a thing of beauty and it makes the rest of my pots and pans look disgraceful. It also makes me want to go out and replace them all. There are some differences though. I found that my water boiled faster. I also found that you need to have a pot holder handy as I can’t just grab the handles anymore. They are hot so be prepared when you remove the pan or even just the lid.
The size of this pot is 5 qt. It’s a larger size every day pan in my opinion. It is a great addition if you want something bigger but not stockpot bigger. As you know I just love making all of Sawyers baby food and I loved that this pot let me easily make a double serving.
I love how the bottom of the pan lets me know everything I need to about the pot. Not only the size of it but where I can use it and how to clean it too.
Cleaning it was way easier then I thought. After making this stock that had to simmer for 45 minutes I was worried the ring around the top would be hard but it rinsed right off.
I love this pan! I really want to try and cook in other style pans. I can’t believe it took me so long to finally try stainless steel! You can purchase the AccuCore 5-qt. Stainless Steel Dutch Oven for $129 directly from their site or if you prefer from their store on our affiliate Amazon for the same price.
